This fall, the Center for Humanities and the Arts (CHA) presents a series of events that foster meaningful dialogue and engagement around timely and thought-provoking topics. 

From discussions on democracy and the future of live performing arts to highlighting graduate student research and celebrating campus-wide culture and arts, the CHA remains committed to facilitating conversations that challenge, inspire, and unite the Boulder community. Difficult Dialogue: "Election Year Polarization: Can we stay good neighbors?"

Monday, September 16, 6:30pm – 8pm at Grace Commons Church (1820 15th St, Boulder)
A partnership with Grace Commons Church and CU Libraries.

Explore how to stay connected with those we disagree with amid the polarized atmosphere of the November 2024 US presidential election.

Culture Crawl: Bookmark Making and the Right to Read

Wednesday, September 25, 12:30pm – 2:30pm at Macky Auditorium, RM 201 (CHA Office)
Part of CU Libraries' annual Culture Crawl, a campus-wide event celebrating arts & culture. 

The CHA’s event aligns with National Banned Books Week, which celebrates the right to read and brings attention to attempts to censor books in schools and libraries.

Difficult Dialogue: Is This What Democracy Looks Like?

Wednesday, October 2, 6pm – 7pm at Chautauqua’s Community house – Rocky Mountain Climbers Club
Partnered with Colorado Chautauqua and their Voices at Chautauqua series.

A community discussion about the nature and evolution of democracy in the US, with Steve Vanderheiden as the moderator.

Graduate Student Dialogue on Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship
Wednesday, October 16, 1pm - 3pm at the Center for Teaching & Learning (CASE E390).
Part of Research and Innovation Week 2024, co-sponsored by the Office for Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship.
 
Join us for graduate student presentations in roundtable and short-talk formats, dialogue about community-engaged and public scholarship, with light refreshments and good company!
