Sarah Thomas’ work over the past sixteen years has focused on advancing conservation and sustainable communities in the United States and globally. The principal of Sarah Thomas Consulting, LLC, she combines a strong technical background in environmental policy with practical experience in the philanthropic, non-profit, and academic sectors. As a consultant, Sarah specializes in programmatic research and analysis, strategy development, and communications for philanthropic, nonprofit, and government clients. Her projects have addressed a variety of environmental topics, including community-based natural resources management, land use policy, clean energy, and land and water conservation.

Sarah is a former fellow at the Center of the American West at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she researched the effects of outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism on communities and landscapes in the U.S. West. She currently is a Board Member of Wildlands Restoration Volunteers. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management and a M.A. in Environmental History from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. magna cum laude, in History and Literature from Harvard University.
