Dissertation: Borderline Unstainable: Urban Planning and Diplomacy at the Tijuana-San Diego Boundary, 1919-1999
Kevan Malone is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at UC San Diego. His research examines the role of diplomacy in urban planning along the U.S.-Mexico border between Tijuana and San Diego during the twentieth century. He received the Center of the American West's Rosenbloom Scholarship in 2021 for graduate students engaged in applied history and participated in a panel of Rosenbloom fellows at the Western History Association's conference that year. Kevan is a member of the San Diego chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network, which aims to make the research of academics more accessible and useful to policymakers and the public. His writings have appeared in The Washington Post and The San Diego Union-Tribune.
