Matt is an architectural engineering PhD student, who began at CU Boulder in Fall 2020. His current research focuses on embodied carbon in buildings, or the carbon emissions associated with the extraction, manufacturing, construction, and end-of-life treatment associated with building materials. He has taught and assisted with classes focused on energy, sustainability, and material science. Matt graduated from the University of Virginia in 2012, and most recently worked to support the adoption of the energy efficient buildings at RMI.
