Emily Martin
French and Italian Lead
Lead Graduate Fellow 2021-22

I'm entering my third year in the doctoral program in the French and Italian Department. My research focuses on 18th century French literature, exploring colonial experiences and spaces of encounter through the interwoven frames of affective ties, familial relationships, and critical race theory. I have previously taught in-person, hybrid, and remote sections of French 1010, French 1020, French 1050, and will teach French 2110 this fall. I love teaching and building community with my students, and I strive to inspire a passion for francophone cultures and histories (and hopefully even grammar!) in my classroom.
