  • The European Commissioner for Trade, Cecilia Malmström, will be visiting Washington, DC from January 8-10, 2019. On January 8th, Commissioner Malmström will meet the United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer in the context of the Executive Working Group on transatlantic trade relations set up by Presidents Juncker and Trump, as part of the JointStatement agreed upon last July. On January 9th the Commissioner will take part in the trilateral discussions between the EU, the US, and Japan to address issues such as trade-distortive practices. Then on January 10th, she will speak at the Atlantic Council on "Trade Trends 2019" (see here). This visit will be covered on the Twitter account @EUintheUS.
  • The EU Delegation will be organizing an event on "EU-U.S. Relations and the 116thCongress" on Capitol Hill on January 15th: panel discussion followed by a reception celebrating the relaunch of the EU Caucus (see here).
