Rebecca is an enthusiastic language and culture advocate. After completing her undergraduate degree, she spent a year in Austria through the Fulbright Teaching Assistant Program. She then pursued a master’s degree in German Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder followed by teaching German language courses at the University of Denver. Rebecca returned to CU to begin a career in higher education administration, working with ALTEC since fall 2017. Rebecca leads the ALTEC language classes program and hopes to bring additional less commonly taught languages to CU (and make them a bit more commonly taught). She is also involved with strategic planning and center initiatives as well as the implementation of collaborative projects. Rebecca enjoys discovering languages in pop culture (shout-out to Robin in Stranger Things) and believes that celebrating languages and cultures is fundamental to global partnerships.
Rebecca is an active member of ACTFL and their LCTL SIG. She received a COERLL digital badge as an Open Educational Resources (OER) Ambassador for promoting the Thai OER that were created by ALTEC at CU Boulder. She is currently serving a three-year term as a member of the Arts & Sciences Staff Advisory Committee, for which she is the acting 2020-2021 committee chair.
