Beginning spring 2013, the CEAE Department at CU-Boulder began offering students the opportunity to earn both a Master of Environmental Engineering degree and a Professional Certificate in Water Engineering and Management (WE&M).
This certificate prepares graduate students and young water professionals for a career in a rapidly changing profession and provides them with the necessary skills and tools to become effective and successful professionals in the water profession.
The WE&M certificate courses are offered live in Boulder classrooms and online, via Be Boulder Anywhere, a global learning opportunity provided by the University of Colorado Boulder’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Center for Advanced Education. Such courses address communication, management, leadership, utility finance, governance, and ethics. The courses are applicable for global projects, including projects for developing communities in emerging countries.
One of the most unique aspects of this certification program is that the faculty comprises academics, senior-level water professionals, and staff members from the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Water Environmental Federation (WEF). All are important for networking in the water profession.
Beginning this fall, qualified students can earn both a graduate Certificate in Water Engineering & Management and a Master of Engineering (ME). In addition, new courses are available that couple water and energy advances. This program provides an excellent opportunity for water professionals to create a positive impact on the next generation of water leaders and addressing a new ear at the nexus of water and energy.
