Currently, I study cosmology using galaxy motions with Jeremy Darling. Specifically, I think about at galaxy proper motions of galaxies that are separated by the baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) length scale. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Gaia proper motion data release to use active galactic nuclei (AGN) to study the large-scale structure and gravitational waves.
Previously, I worked with Lindsay King at the University of Texas at Dallas and Regina Jorgenson at the Maria Mitchell Observatory to use weak gravitational lensing maps to study dark matter in galaxy clusters.
Accessibility in Teaching
I started a project in the Summer of 2019 to revamp the introductory astronomy for non-majors (ASTR 1010) lab manual to be more accessible to people with a range of abilities. Here's an article published about this work in the CU newsletter. I'm currently working with Seth Hornstein and Joy Adams on this project.
