Profile

I am a historian of China with two main areas of interest, (1) Mongol China, and (2) Islam and Chinese Muslims, especially in SW China (Yunnan Province). My research focuses on themes or topics such as ethnic and religious identity, social and political networks, the role of borderlands and frontiers, and China’s role in the larger East Asian world.
