Profile
Kwan-pyo Hong is an associate professor of Chonnam National University (CNU) School of Law, a lawyer under the Korean Bar Association and a member of Jeollanamdo Province Committee on the Guarantee and Promotion of Human Rights. Before he became a faculty member of CNU, he had worked at the Human Rights Policy Division of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea and the Ministry of Justice for about 10 years. In the Ministry of Justice, he had served as a coordinator in charge of establishing the 1st (2007-2011) and 2nd (2012-2016) National Action Plan for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and participated as a member of delegates of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in a number of UN meetings to examine periodic human rights reports of the ROK. In CNU School of law, he has taught subjects such as Contemporary Human Rights and Law, Human Rights Policy Systems and Practices, Public Interest and Human Rights Clinic, Criminal Victims and Human Rights, Anti-discrimination Law, Legal Ethics.
