Research Interests

The one of my interest areas is Chinese imperial cities, especially Changan, the Chinese imperial city of Tang Dynasty. I have been researching on the structure of Changan and its changes in terms of realization of the Emperor’s power and legitimacy. I have been in communication with Chinese and Japanese scholars: Professor Rong Xinjiang榮新江 at Beijing University, Professor Seo Tatsuhiko妹尾達彦 at Chuo University; and Professor Sagawa Eiji佐川英治 at Tokyo University, who all are renowned scholars in studies on Changan and history of imperial cities.

Since I also took an interest in the relation between Changan and the ancient capital cities of Korea, I have conducted a joint-research with researchers of Korean ancient history.
