Female graduate walking to her friends during the graduation ceremony

For many college graduates, the walk across the stage to receive a college diploma is simultaneously a ceremonial leap into the real world. The transition from college to career can be difficult waters to navigate, which is why Career Services offers unlimited resources for CU Boulder alums.

Career Services and the Alumni Association are partners in providing help for young alums to find meaningful careers after graduation. Here’s everything you have access to now that you’re a Forever Buff!

Unlimited career help during your first year out of college

New graduates receive free career advising for one year after graduation. Set up an appointment with any career development advisor for anything from résumé help to job search strategies to interview preparation.

After your first year, you get two free appointments each year with an alumni career advisor; $30 after that. They can be available for in-person, Skype and phone appointments.

Attend workshops, events exclusively for alumni

There are new events every month for alumni to attend, including webinars on professional and career-related topics. Attend the Alumni Assessment Series, at which you will learn from career and personality assessments like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. You can also attend any Career Services event and the Alumni-Only Career Fair in Denver on June 25.

Network with fellow Forever Buffs—find a local alumni chapter

Building your network of connections is an essential part of the job search. In fact, more than 85 percent of positions are filled through networking. So, why not use your network of more than 175,000 CU Boulder alumni?

No matter where you go after graduation, there’s likely a CU Boulder alumni chapter near you. Connect with fellow Forever Buffs in your city by attending alumni events and CU athletics watch parties.

Access to thousands of jobs through Handshake

As an alum, you can continue utilizing any of the university's career tools, including Handshake. More than 14,000 employers post positions specific for CU Boulder students and alumni on this platform. Career Services vets all of them to make sure they’re a good fit for you.

This job and events board has more than 6,500 jobs available for students and alumni. If you already have an account, make sure to switch it over to the alumni version. If you don’t have one yet, follow these simple instructions.

This next stage of your life can be exciting, yet terrifying all at once. Be sure to take advantage of these free resources to help set you off on the right foot as a Forever Buff.
