The MBA admissions requirements to both the Full-Time and Evening MBA programs are competitive and thorough. The business school admissions committee conducts a holistic review of each application to select the best possible candidates for each program. Your academic cohort of today is your professional network of tomorrow -- trust us to select only the best and brightest to be your peers in and out of the classroom.

Our decisions are based on a number of criteria, which can be grouped into three broad categories – academic competitiveness, professional experience and leadership potential. Our MBA admissions requirements reflect our desire for intellectual leaders who will make their mark in the business world.

First and foremost in our consideration is your ability to successfully complete the academic requirements of the program. Students must demonstrate a record of academic success at the undergraduate level along with significant quantitative skill. We assess your academic abilities through a thorough review of your undergraduate record, test scores, and graduate record (if applicable).

Undergraduate Record

Applicants must have completed the equivalent of a four-year U.S. baccalaureate degree at a regionally accredited institution. In addition to the cumulative grade point average, we also consider the academic caliber of the institution awarding the degree and the rigor of the undergraduate.

No specific undergraduate coursework or degree is required for admission to the MBA program. Although there are no prerequisites for the program, we recommend college algebra or calculus, statistics microeconomics, and principles of accounting as preparation for non-business majors.

Standardized Test Scores (GMAT or GRE)

The admissions committee takes a holistic approach to reviewing applications. A graduate level exam score is required for the application. Leeds will offer a limited number of exam waivers for the 2022 application cycle. All application materials must be complete and the application must be submitted to have the waiver request reviewed. Applicants not approved for a waiver will be required to submit an exam score for their application to move forward in the evaluation process.  NOTE:  An exam score is required to be considered for special/named scholarship awards.

The GMAT and GRE are other indicators of academic competitiveness. In particular these exams are an objective measure of your verbal, quantitative and writing skills and are a significant predictor of success in an MBA program.

Graduate Coursework

Completed graduate-level courses or degrees are also considered a part of your cumulative academic record. Transcripts from any graduate course work should also be submitted for consideration.

Note: The University of Colorado Boulder does not issue duplicate degrees; therefore, applicants who have already earned an MBA degree are not eligible for admission.

Professional work experience adds relevance and richness to classroom discussions and project work. The admission committee considers the quality and length of professional experience. Increasing levels of responsibility and career progression are important components of our evaluation. Applicants who do not have post-graduate work experience are welcome to apply. Review the class profile to see the average incoming student work experience.

Note:Professional experience is preferred for the Full-time and Evening MBA programs. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.

While this is the most difficult aspect to evaluate, it is also of critical importance. We value the experience and ideas our students bring to the program and the leadership they demonstrate in adding to the continual improvement of our programs. An ability and willingness to contribute to the program and the collaborative community are often reflected in the comments from your recommenders and in your past involvement and leadership experience.

Essay

Your essay provides valuable insight into your MBA candidacy. It allows you to help us understand your interests, goals, and experience. It is also an opportunity for you to highlight strengths that may not be represented by your college transcript, test scores, or resume.

Letters of Recommendation

Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation from people in a position to evaluate your professional experience. Recommenders should be able to evaluate your potential to lead and manage others, personal qualities, interpersonal skills, and professional accomplishments.

Interviews

Interviews are required for admission for both the MBA and Evening MBA programs. After an initial application evaluation is completed, selected candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview. Interviews may be conducted in person on campus, or by phone, or via Skype.
