Jorge received his B.A. in Computing Systems from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. He worked in the IT world for IBM Mexico and Sybase Inc. on multiple roles. He enjoyed supporting clients from multiple business sectors: finance, manufacturing, education, etc. He moved from Mexico City to Boulder back in 1996. As an immigrant himself, he started to develop interest in K12 education challenges for immigrant families and decided to jump into outreach projects to help families and students to understand the educational system. He worked for "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County as a program director, leading a cohort of students for several years.
Jorge's dream was to join CU Boulder at one point to support first generation students. Now as part of the team for the Office of Diversity Affairs where he currently serves as a Program Manager, Jorge oversees the EXCEL Scholars Program among other projects.
