Francisco Morales is a third-year Ph.D. student at the Management & Entrepreneurship Division. He holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and a Master in Management from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Chile. Francisco is interested in studying the internationalization of Venture Capital (VC) and Private Equity (PE) firms. One of his current research projects explores the effects of the institutional environment and social networks in VC and PE investments in different regions of the world. He is also studying the impact of corporate decisions, such as mergers and acquisitions, on innovation. Since the Strategic Management Society Special Conference in Rio de Janeiro in 2011, the first conference to which Francisco attended, Francisco's research has been presented at several academic conferences. In 2014, he was awarded the GWU-CIBER Best Paper on Emerging Markets by the International Management Division at AOM (Philadelphia). In 2015, he was recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer by the BPS division at AOM (Vancouver).

Francisco likes to play and watch football (the sport known in the U.S. as 'soccer') and is an amateur photographer. He also likes to take pictures. Among the places he has visited, the most remarkable are the Cape Horn (Chile), Easter Island (Chile), and the Royal Observatory (Greenwich, UK).
