Congratulations - you're graduating! We're excited to celebrate this milestone with you and have provided key details about the day below so you can prepare to make the most of the day with family and friends.

To support effective security measures, Coors Event Center has strict limitations on bags and items that may be brought into the Coors Event Center. To ensure a hassle free graduation, Leeds recommends that all ceremony attendees follow the clear bag requirements detailed below. With the exception of medical bags, all other bags must meet the requirements below.

  • One clear bag no larger than 12” by 6” by 12”
  • A one-gallon sized clear freezer bag
  • Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5” by 6.5”

Parking is available near Coors Event Center and the Koelbel building.

Parking attendants will be directing traffic.

Please see the Commencement map, free public parking is highlighted in yellow, ADA/disability parking is in purple and VIP parking is in red/maroon. -If you have limited mobility and require assistance, you have a choice of parking in 2 of our ADA/Disability lots: Lot 440 or Lot 430-these are first come first serve. Once you are parked, we will have volunteers ready to greet and take you to the elevators and escort you to the disability and wheelchair reserved seating sections in the Coors Events Center.

Please arrive by 8:30 am on Friday to allow time for seating and check in. The ceremony is approximately two hours long, please plan on attending the entire event. Wear your cap and gown upon arrival. Start with your tassel on the right side. Graduates are responsible for carrying any personal items they bring, as there are no accommodations for storage, so we recommend traveling light!

All Leeds graduates sign in at the cardtable (located in Section 15). At this table, graduates will receive a card with their name printed on it. Once they have picked up their card, senior gift, (FYI: medals for: “high distinction” or “distinction” can be picked up at this table) and any other items given to you, the staff will direct all graduates to line-up near the southeast and southwest entrances of Coors Event Center. Graduates may line up in any order so that they can sit by their friends. During the ceremony, they will hand their name card to the person announcing names as they walk across the stage. Volunteers will be there to help line everyone up and direct all graduates when and where to walk. Family and friends should be seated by 8:45 am.

**The university commencement ceremony is an academic ceremony; therefore, all participants must wear traditional CU academic regalia.**

Undergraduate students are required to purchase regalia for the ceremony from the CU Book Store, located in the UMC, during regular business hours or at 7:30 a.m. on May 10th. Regalia will be available for purchase at the cashiers in the lower level of the bookstore beginning March 19th. The cost to purchase the regalia set, which includes the gown, cap, and degree tassel, is $45.99 for standard sizes and $49.99 for larger sizes (plus tax). Regalia is non-returnable once it is purchased. Other souvenir packages are available—please visit the store or website for details. Handicap seating will be available and provided for all ADA/disabilities, no further arrangements are required. Please see “parking” for which lots are designated/reserved for ADA/Disability parking. Once you are parked, we will have volunteers ready to greet and escort you to the disability and wheelchair reserved seating sections which are the first 4 rows of sections: 19, 20, 21, 22. If you are confined to a wheelchair, we have a reserved wheelchair section located on the main graduation floor/court and your family will be able to sit directly behind you. (First 4 rows are reserved in sections 19, 20, 21, 22). Wheelchairs are available to check out. Please visit the Guest Service Gazebo on the concourse, behind section 2. There will also be Coors staff available to help direct you to Guest Services as well.

The Coors Event Center's floor or court can seat approximately 600 graduates, if we exceed this many graduates and the seats on the floor/court fill up, the volunteer staff will have the remaining students sit in Section 15, directly behind the students seated on the court (volunteers will ensure all students are sitting in the correct section).

All family and friends are allowed to sit anywhere that is not marked reserved, VIP, ADA/Disability, or graduate seating. All seats are first come, first serve, the earlier you arrive, the better seats you can secure!

Programs will be handed out at the entrance of Coors Events Center.

Our professional photographer (Grad Images) will take pictures of all graduates as they are presented with a diploma cover.

Grad Images will distribute contact cards to each student to fill out with their name, address and email. They will use this information to contact you after the ceremony to view and purchase your pictures.

If you would like to purchase flowers for your graduate, there will be a flower vendor on the upper level of the concourse (behind section 7 & 8 and 23 & 24) with great quality and selection!

Bring your family and friends to celebrate with your graduate at the Leeds Annual Post-Graduation Celebration!  We will have complimentary food and drinks available to commend our newest Leeds Alumni!

As you plan to celebrate graduation with family and friends, remember to make dinner, hotel and flight reservations as soon as possible. With many students graduating at the same time, it can be difficult to find available local venues closer to graduation.

The MS, MBA and PhD graduation ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm, on Thursday, May 10th, 2018. The ceremony will take place on Sewell Field on campus with a reception following the ceremony.
