Brian Higgins is a sales and business development executive with 35 years of experience in the global healthcare information technologies industry. Brian credits the success he has had in a wide range of business ventures to his passion for the role and value of professional selling. His passion ultimately led him to create a successful consulting practice that advises technology companies on matters of sales strategy and organizational development. He most recently turned his attention to sharing his passion, knowledge and experience with students at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
Brian joined the Leeds School of Business in the Fall of 2015 in order to develop curriculum and teach courses related to sales management and sales performance. Brian’s approach to teaching involves a rigorous classroom agenda complemented by participation from industry professionals who provide students an opportunity to see the practical application of what is being taught. Brian has recruited an impressive community of more than 150 professional sales people that mentor students one-on-one, participate in sales role play exercises and assist in classroom discussions as panelists and guest speakers.
Brian’s courses serve as the foundation for a Sales Track of courses designed for students who would like to either pursue a career in sales or better understand sales to bolster their knowledge of business management and administration.
Brian serves as the academic advisor to a CU Sales Club that was formed and is managed by students in the Sales Track.
Included in the CU Sales Club’s objectives is participation in intercollegiate sales role play competitions, using Brian and members of the mentor community as coaches and advisors.
Brian works with the Leeds Career Services team to match students with employers who offer sales internships and full time sales positions.
