For the last 25 years, the CU Real Estate Center has had the honor of collaborating with national industry leaders to organize and host the region’s premier real estate conference and networking event. The 2022 Silver Anniversary Real Estate Forum panel topics, special guest speakers and sponsors promises to be a unique and informative event covering topics from legislation impacts to the future of real estate after the Marshall Fire and COVID. This recruitment fair is open to our current graduate and Undergraduate students, AS WELL AS any attendees of the forum. So this means you will have exposure to not only our students, but many alums and other industry professionals.

From Suburban Harmony to a New New-Urbanism

The catastrophic Marshall Fire that swept through Superior and Louisville fundamentally disrupted the way communities will look at open spaces, building codes, density, insurance coverage, construction materials—even landscaping. As these communities rebuild, the real estate industry is rethinking almost everything.

This timely panel will take a hard look at how to avoid a similar catastrophe in the future and what societal trade-offs will be necessary to protect our lifestyles and livelihoods. Anchored by the Honorable Clint Folsom, Mayor of the City of Superior, the panel will bring in critical perspectives from builders, the insurance sector, impacted communities and others.

The Airport as an Anchor

With 69 million passengers traveling through the airport in 2019—a number expected to grow to 100 million—Denver’s internationally renowned airport (DEN) is one of the busiest airline hubs in the world’s largest aviation market. DEN is also the primary economic engine for the state of Colorado, generating more than $33.5 billion for the region annually, and is largely credited for quite literally putting Denver and Colorado on the map.

The airport's CEO, Phillip A. Washington, sees DEN as a critical keystone in Denver’s continued prosperity and vitality. With his unique national perspective, he will share how the pieces fit together as Denver’s future continues to be built.

The Future of Office

Two years after COVID-19 introduced the world to virtual workplaces, the promise of renewed productivity, creativity and collegial social interaction is drawing us back to the familiar office cube. Or is it? Sociologists, psychologists and epidemiologists are now weighing in on tomorrow’s workplace.

From the simple touchless door pull to creating energizing co-collaboration areas, explore what a post-COVID workplace will look, feel and even sound like. International designer Sarah McGarry, IIDA, LEED AP, principal and workplace sector lead at Stantec, explores how people’s emotions, fears and aspirations are transforming real estate and the office environment.

Transforming Denver

Denver remains a hot development market—only Washington, D.C., Seattle, and Los Angeles had more cranes in the air last year. Furthermore, Denver’s development community has taken a long view on the city’s future, rebuilding and revitalizing entire neighborhoods while being on the leading edge in design, sustainability and resiliency. Through a showcase of several of the city’s most important developments, this session will be a window into the projects transforming Denver and the nation’s real estate market.
