Application Process Overview

  1. Review the application process and detailed instructions before starting your application.
  2. Be sure you meet the eligibility requirements and have a research project and mentor before applying.
  3. Complete the student portion of the application before the student deadline through the online DocuSign application process.
  4. Once you've signed, your application will automatically be emailed to your mentor. Your mentor will then finish and sign it before the mentor deadline. As a professional courtesy, start early to give your mentor time to prepare their portion of the application.
  5. You will receive an email from DocuSign when your mentor has signed. Only then is your application considered complete.

  • BSI does not accept hard copies of applications. Applications MUST be submitted through DocuSign.
  • You will be notified by email if you've been awarded funding.
  • Awarded students are required to complete a background check.

Incomplete applications and applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Both the student and mentor portions of the application must be submitted by their respective deadlines for the application to be considered.
