On February 3, middle and high school teachers from around the Denver metro area gathered in the Biological Sciences Initiative (BSI) Classroom on the CU Boulder main campus for the third of three BSI workshops focused on science teaching strategies. The 2017-18 workshop series consisted of three Saturdays where teachers came to campus to learn tips and tricks for engaging their science students, collaborated over activities, and learned from the A-TEAM (Accomplished Teachers Educating and Mentoring).
The workshop series aims to empower teachers and help them feel more confident in their science teaching. Participants include first-year teachers as well as seasoned classroom veterans who come together to learn from each other. In addition to receiving useful tips and materials for their classrooms free of charge, participating teachers are eligible for in-class mentoring from the A-TEAM and receive CU graduate credit for their time.
