Experimental Thursday
The last of this Fall’s “Experimental Thursdays” lunchtime screenings will happen this coming Thursday (November 30) at 12:30-2:00 pm. Previous screenings have featured works by Stan Brakhage. This Thursday's films will be selected from the collection by MFA-student Sierra Cosmidis-Grove.
Day With(out) Art 2023
Then, in celebration of World AIDS Day, Brakhage Center joins forces for the third year running with bot LQBTQ Studies at CU, and the Visual AIDS Organization, for DAY WITHOUT ART: An International Day of Action and Mourning in Response to the AIDS crisis. This year’s event will occur in ATLAS 311 at 5 pm on November 30th. This year’s program, titled Everyone I Know Is Sick consists of five new videos generating connections between HIV and other forms of illness and disability.
Cody Norton: Brakhage Center Artist-in-Resident Talk
On Thursday, December 7, Cody Norton, the 2023 Brakhage Center Artist-in-Resident will finish his residency with an Artist Talk, to be delivered, along with a screening of his video work, at 4 pm. The Brakhage Center for Media Arts’s AIR Program, established in 2021, is inspired by the exquisiteness of Stan Brakhage’s engagement with, and integration of, found footage, including scientific and other archival materials Brakhage Center residents receive a studio at the Brakhage Center, and a stipend, and with both the archival film collections, and the Stan Brakhage Papers, held in Rare and Distinctive Collections. Cody Norton’s presentation is titled “Birds of Prey: Acts of Reconstruction.”
