Vanessa has oversight of BOLD Scholarship programs and leads other student success and retention initiatives in BOLD to support underrepresented students in STEM. 

Vanessa has worked at CU since 2006, both in the BOLD Center and in Student Affairs. Prior to that she taught high school math in Colorado. She is a first-generation student and a graduate of the University of Colorado with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and a Masters degree in Educational Foundations, Policy and Practice. Vanessa was involved in the Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP) as an undergrad, which later developed into BOLD in 2008. She has two young children and enjoys reading, podcasts, and spending time with her large family in Colorado, New Mexico and New Jersey.
