How will I receive funding for the 1% one-time payments for faculty and staff in my unit?

The 1% one-time will be charged directly to a central speedtype for salary and benefits. No expenses related to this compensation will be charged to the unit. Centrally we will cover all eligible employees regardless of funding source.

How will I receive funding for the 3% one-time payments for temporary faculty in my unit?

For Spring 2022, lecturers and adjuncts will receive a 3% one-time payment. This will be built into the contracts for AY 2023. The 3% one-time will be charged directly to a central speedtype for salary and benefits. No expenses related to this compensation will be charged to the unit.

Continuing Budget Calculations

How will you calculate the continuing General Fund (GF) budget allocation for the 3% base building increase for faculty?

The Provost faculty roster will be used to determine the funding source(s) for each faculty position. The General Fund continuing budget will be calculated based on 3% of the Continuing General Fund Salary Budget per the Provost faculty roster for all eligible faculty. The associated general fund benefits will be allocated at the corresponding FY22 fringe benefit rate to the benefit budget account code.

How will you calculate the continuing General Fund (GF) budget allocation for the 3% base building increase for staff?

The Office of Budget and Fiscal Planning (BFP) will use payroll funding as pulled the week of 12/6 by Human Resources (HR) to determine General Fund positions. Departments will receive a staff roster from HR with columns to indicate whether General Fund funding is from continuing budget or temporary budget. The final General Fund continuing budget FTE will be applied to the increase amount prepared by HR.

We will use the FY22 continuing budget for student faculty as of 12/30/2021 and apply a 3% increase to the pool for both salary and benefits. The associated general fund benefits will be allocated at the corresponding FY22 fringe benefit rate to the benefit budget account code.

How will you calculate the continuing General Fund (GF) budget allocation for the 3% base building increase for temporary faculty (lecturers and adjuncts)?

We are preparing a 5-year historical lookback of actual salary spend on the General Fund for temporary faculty. We will use the average of that lookback to calculate the 3% increase on salary as well as the associated benefits. The associated general fund benefits will be allocated at the corresponding FY22 fringe benefit rate to the benefit budget account code.

Continuing Budget

When will I receive the budget for the 3% base building increases?

The continuing budget for the full 3% salary plus benefits of faculty, staff, and grad students on appointment will be transferred in January 2022. Half of that, 1.5%, will be pulled back as temp budget at the same time. The full 3% continuing budget for temporary faculty will be allocated 7/1/2022 for the FY23 budget.

Will I receive funding for faculty, staff, grad students or temporary faculty who are not funded from continuing General Funds?

No, the department will need to identify funding for the 3% base building increases for those employees not funded from continuing General Fund budget.

Will benefits budget also be allocated for the salary increases?

Central campus will allocate the associated benefits budget for all general fund continuing salary increase allocations at the FY22 fringe benefit rate. You can find FY22 fringe rate detail here.
