Information pertaining to administrative faculty positions can be found on the Office of Faculty Affairs website.

When a faculty member holds an administrative appointment, they get a new merit formula that supersedes their base formula for the time they are in that particular administrative appointment. In the event a faculty member takes on a second administrative appointment, in addition to one they already hold, the formula needs to be adjusted to take into account the duties for the additional administrative role. For example, if a faculty member had a 30% teaching, 40% research and 30% service formula for their first administrative appointment, it might change to 20% teaching, 40% research and 40% service for the second administrative appointment. This new formula would supersede the other two while the second administrative appointment is in place.

Chair/Faculty Director

Selection of incoming Chair/Faculty Director’s should be determined during Spring semester to ensure the appointments can be processed prior to the start date of July 1st, which are paid out over 12 months on a fiscal year basis, funded by the College.

Once the Unit has selected a new Chair/Faculty Director in conjunction with unit bylaws, the results and length of appointment are emailed to the College of Arts and Sciences' Faculty Affairs Coordinator for endorsement by the Dean.

The stipend amount is determined and calculated according to the current base academic year salary in alignment with the current Fiscal Year Stipend Model, which is a compensation system driven by metrics including measures of unit complexity, plus a measure of research quality.

In conjunction with the College of Arts and Sciences' Budget Office, offer letters are drafted and processed by the College of Arts and Sciences' Faculty Affairs Office via tempaltes found at the following links:

Once the offer letter is fully-executed in DocuSign:
