Shawn Arnold
GEOG, ENVS and ENVD Academic Advising Coordinator

Environmental Design 171

Shawn earned a B.S. in Communications, with a minor in Business, and an M.Ed. in Counselor Education from James Madison University in Virginia. Her career in academic advising started in Missouri at a vocational-technical school (that later became a community college).  Heading back to Virginia, she continued working in higher education at a community college, a large state university, and a small private college.

All along, Colorado kept calling.  Shawn and her family had been vacationing in Colorado for 20+ years and it quickly became their second home.  It was a no-brainer for the entire family to ultimately “westward ho.” Her sons blazed the trail, moving to Colorado within days of graduating from college.  After a couple of years, Shawn, husband, dog, and five cats (she is NOT the cat lady; she is a serial rescuer) found their way to Colorado and CU to begin the next chapter.  When she isn’t advising, she can be found hiking, cycling, trekking to the dog park, or remodeling their home. When not at CU, if you want to make her happy, give her a new power tool!
