she, her, hers
Laurel moved to Colorado from the "Island of Long" in 1991 for a promotion while working in the outdoor industry. After starting out post-High School life at Grinnell College, a very small liberal arts school in Iowa, she studied in London and then decided to take a semester off from college which turned into many semesters. She was closing in on thirty when she decided it was finally time to finish out her undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado Boulder as a non-traditional aged student. Choosing Psychology as her major was a natural fit with her curiosity about human behavior and desire to help others. She got her first taste for academic advising when she worked as an Orientation Peer Advisor the summer before she graduated and loved it. That position led to her being offered a full-time advising position after graduation and the rest is history!
Laurel's main loves are being in the outdoors, finding hidden gems at thrift stores and getting affection from random dogs since her four-legged best friend Maya is no longer by her side. She has a passion for music and helps out a local non-profit, eTown, at their live radio show tapings. She also enjoys volunteering and doing charity events related to the Boulder Humane Society,Boulder County Aids Project, Emergency Family Assistance Association and Boulder International Film Festival, just to name a few.
