Space Management & Construction

Responsibilities:

  • The College of Arts and Sciences Physical Plant Manager
    • Manage the College of Arts and Sciences Building Portfolio
    • Lobby University resources and decision makers to best support the College of Arts and Sciences physical plant
    • Align physical plant maintenance, upgrades and new construction efforts with the college's mission
    • Strategic coordination with external Departments like Environmental, Health, & Safety (EH&S), Facilities Management (Fac Man), Office of Information Technology, the Safety Office, etc.
  • Point of Contact for Construction-Related Activities
    • Offer general support to Departments interested in coordinating renovation projects
    • Facilitate communication between Departments and project management/construction Resources inside and outside the University.
    • Act as a College of Arts and Sciences' Owners Representative for capital projects
  • Point of Contact for Space Management Issues
    • Primary point of contact for space requests
    • Manage advancement of space requests to the Dean’s Office, and if required, to the Facilities Management Space Office, and Provost’s Office
    • Coordinate support for ARCHIBUS (software platform) end users
    • Manage Space Memorandum of Understanding documentation
    • Offer support for creation of effective ‘Building Administrative Committees’
  • Construction Funding Application Manager
    • Manage the CAS Request for Funds solicitation
    • Manage the ‘Research Infrastructure Improvement’ solicitation
    • In partnership with Facilities Management, coordinate other funding opportunities like Controlled Maintenance, Deferred Maintenance, Energy Incentives, etc.
  • Facilities Management Liaison
    • Coordinate with Planning Design & Construction on Capital Construction activities

    • Coordinate with Facilities Operations on escalated building operation issues like preventative maintenance, outages, custodial etc.
    • Oversee quality and consistency of construction project delivery in the college's buildings
    • Manage escalation efforts when Facilities Management response to Department requests are not effective
