The Leadership Studies Minor is a valuable academic program available to all undergraduates regardless of major or college. The Leadership Studies Minor provides academically based leadership training that incorporates:

  • Understanding the broad context of leadership theory;
  • Gaining a historical context of leadership;
  • Developing core competencies;
  • Practicing and observing leadership experiences.

By including the Leadership Studies Minor with your chosen field of study, you will develop essential skills that will set you apart and provide and important credential in your job exploration.

Leadership Studies Guide 

To achieve a Leadership Studies Minor from CU-Boulder a student must declare the Leadership Studies Minor and complete 16 credit hours of leadership studies coursework. Required Coursework:

  • LEAD 1000 Foundations Course (3 credits)
  • LEAD 4000 Capstone Course (4 credits)
  • Electives (9 credits)

Students enrolled in the Leadership RAP, Presidents Leadership Class (PLC), INVST Community Studies and all ROTC units should talk to their respective programs about each specific program’s requirements as a pathway to the Leadership Studies Minor
