
Art History
Shawn C. Simmons is an M.A. candidate in art history drawn to intersections of critical theory and contemporary art. At CU Boulder, Shawn's research focuses on queer ecological arts practices in relation to futurism and utopia. He completed his B.A. in Art History, Urban Design & Architecture Studies at New York University, where he focused on art of the AIDS crisis and utopian modernist architecture at NYU Berlin. Shawn previously worked on the editorial staff of The Architect's Newspaper, where he covered ecologically engaged projects with an international reach. His research interests also include performance studies, aesthetic theory, and the body in visual art.
