  • Professor signatures of approval are required for all courses you wish to audit. 

  • Courses for which professors deny auditors and/or courses whose enrollment have exceeded fire code for the classroom are not auditable.

  • Online access to courses and courses materials will only be allowed if you are on the class roster. 

  • You will receive an email with in 24 hours of registering for Senior Auditors giving you information on the classes you enrolled in as well as how to activate your IDentikey to access online course materials and syllabus

The following courses are not available for auditing:

  • Theater and Dance: Lecture courses are open to auditors pending instructor approval but studio courses are restricted.

  • Asian Languages: Current restrictions include: Wait-listed courses. Foreign language courses (Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Hindi, Japanese, Korean). These are not available to audit to those in the Senior Auditor Program. While language courses are not available to auditors, content courses in this department are available to auditors.

  • History: Department policy is that the History Department only allows auditors in most 1000, 2000 and 4000 level courses. Auditors are not allowed in HIST 1800, any of our 3000-level courses, HIST 4020, or Graduate level courses. In addition, you must request permission from individual faculty before auditing any courses. If a faculty does not allow auditors in their course then this course is not available for auditing.  

  • Participatory courses (for example: voice, choral, dance, painting, pottery and computer classes)

  • Courses offered through Continuing Education

  • First-year law courses (for example: 5000- and 8000-level courses)

  • History seminars at the undergraduate 3000-level

  • The following foreign language courses: Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Korean, Farsi and Hindi

  • Courses that reach enrollment capacity with tuition-paying students

  • Courses that professors have designated not-for-auditors

Registration entitles you to the following:

  • IT access

  • ID card for access to the CU library system

  • Inclusion on class roster


Auditor Etiquette

Please remember that you are a guest in the class, and should not participate in labs, testing, discussion groups or in presentations as these are activities for tuition-paying students. Also keep in mind:

  • If you wish to complete assignments, verify that the instructor has time to grade them

  • No academic credit is available

  • You must arrive to class on time

  • Please stay until the end of the class

  • Remember that faculty reserve the right to prevent individual courses from being part of the Senior Auditors Program.
