Chris Swenson joined the center for First Year Students in the summer of 2014. Before arriving to CU-Boulder, Chris graduated with a Master’s of Science in Counseling and Student Affairs from a university in his home state of Minnesota. As an undergraduate, Chris studied English with a plan of continuing his education after graduation. Before graduating, Chris felt firsthand what it was like to have both positive and negative advising experiences. The great advising he received outweighed the negative and encouraged him to help others with major exploration as well as understanding graduation requirements.
Having a strong interest in higher education, Chris pursued a career in academic advising. While completing his graduate degree he worked as an academic advisor helping undergraduate students from various departments. Chris is very excited to be a part of the Arts and Sciences First-Year Advisor squadron.
When Chris is not working he enjoys beings outdoors, travelling, music, relaxing, and spending time with his friends and his family. He is happy to be new to Colorado and looks forward to working with both students and staff.
