Students majoring in any discipline may pursue a minor in Critical Media Practices. We anticipate student interest from within the College of Media, Communication and Information —Communication, Media Studies, Information Science and Journalism in particular. Our minor would be attractive to CMCI students looking for their required secondary area of concentration.

Given the cross-disciplinary nature of the minor, we also anticipate potential interest from the College of Arts and Science—Theatre and Dance, Film Studies, Anthropology, Art and Art History, English—as well as the College of Music and College of Engineering.

DCMP proposes a total of 16 credit hours, with three required media production courses that combine theory with technical skill in order to prepare students for upper division study. Additional sections of required courses will be offered should demand increase.
