Since 2000, Michael Lynn has been advising undergraduates in the University of Colorado’s Department of Sociology. He enjoys helping students to take a healthy, long-term approach their education as well as teaching them to “learn how to learn,” a valuable skill that can serve one for a lifetime. He also strives to connect students to opportunities and activities that will enrich their education as well as help with career development (study abroad, research, speakers/events, internships, career fairs).
Originally from Ohio, Michael attended the University of Colorado (BS Journalism; MA Political Science). Before advising he taught political science at Front Range Community College and the University of Colorado, and also worked at the University of Colorado’s Study Skills Center.
Michael’s interests include playing the piano, sports, nutrition and health, meditation, traveling, politics, comedy, photography, movies, and learning Chinese. He has visited Asia multiple times (China, Japan, Thailand), and recently traveled to the Middle East to conduct study abroad site visits (American University - Cairo; SIT Jordan – Modernization and Social Change program-2011). Michael also visited the Havana, Cuba study abroad program in 2013.
