Residence Life staff

Congratulations on being #BoulderBound! Now that you’ve chosen to be a Buff, it’s time to choose housing for your first year on campus. At CU Boulder, we strive to provide exceptional and memorable living environments to our students, and you can learn all of our on-campus housing opportunities on the Housing & Dining Services’ website. If you’re unsure of your choices, you can start by exploring your options to help identify what type of student you are and what we offer based on your student profile.

One of the most important steps in choosing your housing is deciding what type of community aligns with your interests.  You have the option of living in a Residential Academic Program (RAP), Living and Learning Community (LLC), traditional community or other in-hall involvement opportunities. RAPs are communities where students attend smaller in-hall classes that reinforce an academic theme. LLCs are communities where students live in the same hall and engage in activities that reinforce a particular academic theme or general interest. Traditional communities are where students of diverse academic and social interests live in the same hall and engage in a traditional residence hall experience. This information is available in detail on our website in the Get Involved section. On the housing application you can choose six different housing preferences, so make sure to explore all the housing options available.

The housing application is open, so once you have your identikey and are ready to apply, visit the Application Process section. Here you’ll find details on application timelines, contract types, roommate selection, room rates and other important factors that will help you start the application well prepared.

Residence hall rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-assigned basis so your application timeline will depend on when you successfully submit your housing application and pay the $300 deposit.

If you have any questions as you move through the application process, please contact us, we’re here to help! Go Buffs!
