Students on a computer

Applying to college and meeting all the different deadlines can be a really stressful time. For many students, the real stress comes during that period in which you have to anxiously await for your decisions to come in. At CU Boulder, we are not on a rolling admission, which means there very well may be some significant time in between when you completed your application and when you receive your decision. Not to worry, I am here to help you clarify that process and know what to expect.

The time frame in which you actually receive a decision from us depends on when you completed your application. If you completed by the early action deadline of November 15, you should have received your decision by February 1. If you completed by January 15, you will hear back no later than April 1. For any students who applied to CU Boulder after January 15, you will likely get your decision around April 1 or later.

How to Check your Status:

It is crucial to continue to check your email and application status page for any updates regarding your CU Boulder application and see if your decision has been posted. Your admission decision will actually come via your application status page before you even get anything in the mail! This is also a great way to make sure your application is indeed complete and is not missing any materials; and also where we will upload any additional forms we need you to fill out. In summary, be sure to check your application status page weekly!

Types of Status Messages:

There are several different messages you might see when your application has been officially reviewed. Whenever there has been a decision or update posted to your application status page you will also get an email prompting you to check it. To review all the different application status page updates you might see, you can go here:

What should I be doing while I wait?

First of all…breathe! I know it can seem like an eternity to wait for your decision, but use this time to enjoy your senior year, but of course still continue to work hard. You have put in a lot of hard work to get here, so let that speak for itself and try not to spend too many sleepless nights worrying about what your decision will be. If you have any questions about accessing your application status page, or really anything else regarding CU Boulder, be sure to connect with your admission counselor, we are here to help you. Best of luck!
