Chip on a trampolineThe college application process is exciting, stressful, exhilarating and overwhelming all at once. You’ve all but made it to the end of high school and freedom is in sight! Sometimes, the most exciting part of applying to schools is thinking about all of the new places that could be your home for the next four years. The desire for adventure and new experiences prompts many students to look to out-of-state schools for college. But here at CU Boulder we believe your college experience can be just as adventurous when you choose a university closer to home!

Location: CU Boulder is located in the heart of Boulder, which has been ranked #1 best college town in the United States multiple times! Located close to the mountains and near Denver, it’s not hard to see why this is a popular spot. Boulder has also been ranked #1 happiest city (National Geographic, 2017), the #1 healthiest city (Business Insider, 2016) and ranked in the top ten for foodiest cities (Livability, 2014) among others. We have beautiful parks and miles of hiking and biking paths to explore, as well as centers of activity like Pearl Street Mall and The Hill where you’ll find restaurants, shops and a thriving local music scene.

Academic excellence: Looking beyond the appeal of our location, we also have a strong tradition of academic excellence and we are a Tier One research university. And yes, you can do research even as an undergraduate! Our students have done everything from analyzing how plant nutrients can help protect astronauts’ eyesight to training Paralympic athletes for the Olympics. At CU Boulder you can work with Nobel Laureates, National Medal of Science winners, MacArthur fellows and other leading experts both in research experiences and in the classroom. We like to keep our class sizes small so our students can get to know their faculty; 85% of courses are under 50 students and all larger classes also feature a smaller discussion section called a recitation.

Choices: Worried about finding your program of choice? CU Boulder has more than 150 academic fields of study available throughout 7 undergraduate colleges. Several of our majors are in the Top 10 in the US, including aerospace engineering, ceramics, geology and environmental engineering. Some of our most unique programs include Technology, Arts and Media and Leadership and Community Engagement.

Exploration: CU Boulder offers 400 study abroad programs in 64 countries. Want to go to India to study public health, or go to France to learn about luxury goods at chocolate and perfume companies? We have a wide range of programs built to fit into your major and accommodate your academic and financial needs.

Opportunity: We have an alumni network that includes 300,000 people and our graduates have gone on to work for companies like Google, Oracle, Lockheed Martin, Northwestern Mutual and Vail Resorts! Our Career Services center can connect you with internships and jobs from over 11,000 companies. 95% of our students are employed or in a graduate program within 6 months of graduating, and 85% of CU graduates have reported back to us that they are satisfied with their careers!

Affordability: As an in-state student, you have a world of financial aid right at your fingertips. From our scholarship application with 770 offerings to our automatically considered, merit-based scholarships, we have many opportunities designed to make the CU Boulder education accessible. Our newly announced Be Boulder Pact will save our students $8.4 million each year in course and program fees, as well as boost our scholarship offerings!

We are here to work with you! No matter what your background, interests, passions and future plans, we want to help you get the best education possible. And more than anything we want you to know that there is a world of possibility right here in Colorado!
