While many students find a home at the first university they attend, this is certainly not the path that everyone takes to obtain their degree. College students may choose to transfer to another institution for a myriad of reasons; and whether those reasons are related to academics, finances or family obligations, it is important to ensure that their next school is a good fit.
At the University of Colorado Boulder we want to help make your decision to transfer as simple as possible. We believe that the best way to make that happen is to have you join us on campus for one of our on-campus visit programs. The Office of Admissions offers seven spring visit programs that are specifically designed to help prospective transfer students learn more about the transfer application process and about life as a transfer student at CU Boulder. To kick off our line of Spring visit programs, we will be offering our first Transfer Student Information Session on Tuesday, February 7. The information session will include a 30-minute presentation as well as a Q & A session with a Transfer Admissions Counselor. Following the Q&A session you will have the opportunity to partake in a one-hour walking tour of our beautiful campus, led by a current CU Boulder student. The Transfer Information Session is perfect if you are just starting to consider which university you might attend, or even if you are sure CU Boulder is the place for you. These information sessions will be offered twice a month, one weekday and one weekend, and each session will be about two-hours long. Our Saturday sessions will be offered on February 18, March 18, and April 29, and our weekday sessions will be offered on February 7, March 23 and April 5.
While our Transfer Information Sessions are an excellent option for students who are hoping to learn a bit more about our campus, we know that many are also interested in a more in-depth venture into life as a transfer student at CU Boulder. To accommodate this, we will be hosting our Transfer Student for a Day as well as our Military Student for a Day programs on Friday, March 3. These events run from 9 a.m. through the early afternoon and are intended to give visitors a detailed look at many different aspects of our campus. Visitors who take part in these programs will have an opportunity to hear more about the specific college or school they are interested in, learn about our transfer credit process while speaking to a member of our transfer credit team, hear from current CU Boulder students who have transferred from other universities and enjoy a delicious lunch in one of our on-campus dining centers. Presenters from offices such as Career Services, Academic Advising, Off-Campus Housing and Veteran services attend this visit day to illustrate the numerous support services available to students while also answering any questions our visitors may have. Our goal is to offer prospective students a visit that encompasses many different aspects of our campus while also providing them with a glimpse into what the future may hold for them.
If you are unable to attend one of our transfer specific information sessions, prospective students still have plenty of opportunities to come visit us on campus. We offer our general Information Session and Campus Tour every weekday at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. as well as select Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. While these sessions are not transfer specific, they are still an excellent option for students hoping to learn a bit more about our university while getting a student led tour of our amazing campus.
Students interested in attending any of our visit programs can sign up either through their MyCUBoulder account or by giving us a call at 303-492-6301.
We look forward to having you on campus! GO BUFFS!!
