Project Description

This project is working to improve the performance and ease-of-use of computational tools commonly used for population genetics - these tools are used to generate and test biological hypotheses about human origins, evolution, and ancestry.  In particular, the student on this project will be working in the C and Python programming languages to efficiently extract key summary statistics from simulated and sampled genomic data.  Depending on the resulting performance, this project may involve the use of multi-threading libraries, such as pthreads or OpenMP.  This project is a collaboration between the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and the Department of Anthropology.
