States of Accessibility:

  • Reasonably Accessible: No accessibility issues, with minor usability issues, if any, that don’t violate standards but may make the application less intuitive and easy to use.
  • Partially Accessible: Accessibility issues that violate university accessibility standards and make the application difficult but not impossible to use; workarounds should be possible.
  • Not Accessible: Severe accessibility issues that violate university accessibility standards and make core parts of the application inaccessible, with no workarounds possible.

Advising Appointment Scheduling (MyCUHub) Not Accessible

MyCUHub is currently not accessible using a screen reader. Students wishing to schedule appointments with advisors should use the information on the Getting Advising Help Outside of MyCUHub page to contact their college or school directly.

Preliminary review to validate two recent fixes is in process. MyCUHub is in the queue for a more in-depth review by the AUL lab. 5/5/2017
Canvas Testing In Progress  Canvas has not yet been fully tested by the Accessibility and Usability Lab. Preliminary testing results are available on the OIT Canvas Accessibility page After testing is conducted, Canvas will be engaged to remediate any issues found. 1/9/2018
CUBill&Pay (bill payment) Reasonably Accessible
PDF versions of bills generated by CUBill&Pay are not tagged, but all the information it contains is included in the accessible HTML display. Issues from the initial audit have been remediated. 8/8/2016
CU Class Search Reasonably Accessible
 The Accessibility and Usability Lab has worked with the vendor of  CU Class Search to address all issues found in its initial review. As of October 2017, the class search is still in a beta release, and feedback is encouraged. Gathering input about the new class search. 11/1/2017
D2L Partially Accessible

Problems using text-to-speech reader or screen reader can be addressed by downloading the document to your hard drive, then using reading tools. Visit OIT's D2L Accessibility page for more details about accessibility issues and workarounds.

Email List Manager (Sympa) Reasonably Accessible

Screen readers do not work well when attempting to unsubscribe from an email list using the Email List Manager web interface. As a workaround, users can unsubscribe by sending the UNSUBSCRIBE [ListName]@lists.colorado.edu command to sympa@lists.colorado.edu. Full documentation is available at Manage via Email & Common Commands on the OIT web site.

The issue has been reported to the vendor for resolution. 5/5/2017
G Suite: Google Drive Partially Accessible

Google Drive has the following accessibility limitations: 

  • Navigating the “New” item menu and error messages are not adequately announced in screen readers.
  • Navigating the contents of a Google Drive is challenging; lists must be read line by line, no ability to easily search or jump to specific files or folders.

G Suite: Google Slides Partially Accessible

Google Slides has the following accessibility limitations: 

  • After inserting an image into a Google Slide, feedback is not provided on the location and possible overlapping of image/text on the slide and there is no ability to resize the image using a screen reader.

  • The menu option “Apply layout” does not provide adequate announcements to screen readers.

  • Spell Check does not provide adequate context or navigation for screen readers.

Kaltura Partially Accessible

Lynda Partially Accessible
Screen reader users may encounter issues with navigating menus, adding items to playlists, and utilizing the interactive transcript. Users can report any legacy Flash-based videos they encounter to ensure they are updated to an accessible HTML5 player. MyCUInfo - registration and pre-registration requirements Partially Accessible

In May of 2017 a major user interface change was applied to registration and other MyCUInfo self-service functions to make them more accessible. However, usability problems remain with parts of the experience, which cause most first-time users to struggle, and may be amplified by the use of assistive technology.

Students with disabilities may want to have assistance available when they register, until they acclimate to the registration interface. 11/1/2017

The calendar-style layout of the student schedule is difficult to decipher using screen readers.

Workaround: Select the Grades/Details section of the schedule area, which displays the schedule in a list format.

Office 365 - Exchange Online Reasonably Accessible
OIT recommends using the Outlook 2016 desktop email client for the best experience. Visit OIT's Exchange Online page for configuration information.   4/13/2018
Office 365: Video Reasonably Accessible

Navigating the list of videos and headings within an Office 365 Video page does not provide an indication of the layout of the page or an ability to jump between headings for screen readers. Additionally, uploading a new video to an Office 365 Video channel does not provide adequate screen reader announcements. Microsoft has been notified of the issues and intend to address them in an upcoming release, but have not committed to a specific timeframe.

Qualtrics (survey creation) Not Accessible

Qualtrics (survey taking) Partially Accessible

SensusAccess Reasonably Accessible

Turnitin Not Accessible
The Feedback Studio is generally inaccessible to screen reader users. Visit OIT's Turnitin Accessibility page for additional accessibility considerations and guidance.  Turnitin was tested in August 2017, and OIT is communicating with the vendor to address the issues found.  1/9/2018
VoiceThread Partially Accessible
Screen readers are unable to interact with the VoiceThread website, as well as threads embedded in D2L. VoiceThread Universal allows access to threads via screen reader, but there are functional limitations. Visit OIT's VoiceThread Accessibility page for more details about accessibility issues and workarounds.
