The department offers a PhD in Comparitive Ethnic Studies. Applicants must hold a master's degree in ethnic studies or an affiliated field (as assessed by CU ethnic studies faculty). Although faculty may specialize in Africana, Chicana and Chicano, Asian American and Native American studies, the aim of the PhD program is to provide students with broad training that enables them to research and analyze the intersectional and relational workings of race, ethnicity, gender, class and sexuality in national and transnational contexts.
