Faculty Affairs - Call for 2022-23 Outreach Funding Proposals

Dear Faculty Colleagues, Directors and Staff:

On behalf of the Office for Outreach and Engagement, we are pleased to announce the call for proposals for the CU Boulder Outreach Awards, the Community Impact Grants, the Micro Grants and the Undergraduate Community-Engaged Scholars Grants. All proposals are due by 5 p.m. on Feb. 4, 2022.

These awards and grants support outreach and engagement projects that connect CU Boulder research, creative work or teaching with external community needs and opportunities. Projects are designed to be mutually beneficial for the university and partnering communities, may happen across Colorado or beyond and often serve people with less access to university resources.

Advancing the scholarship of CU Boulder, through working relationships with communities near and far, is a critical aspect of how all of us at the university make good on our promise as a public research institution. Funding for these awards and grants is provided by the Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Provost, and the Division of Continuing Education. This call for 2022-23 proposals is Sara Thompson’s last in her role as Vice Provost for Outreach and Engagement. Sara will be retiring in early January.

Funding Opportunity Descriptions
The CU Boulder Outreach Awards support substantive faculty-led outreach and engagement projects. Individual faculty applicants may request up to $9,000 for each project, and interdisciplinary or interdepartmental faculty groups may request up to $24,000 for a single, collaborative outreach project. The CU Boulder Outreach Awards Committee, composed of faculty and staff from multiple academic disciplines, oversees the award process.

Community Impact and Micro Grants help seed projects and support project-related expenses. CU Boulder faculty, staff and graduate students may request up to $5,000 for a Community Impact Grant and up to $2,000 for a Micro Grant. A maximum of $1,000 can be awarded through the Undergraduate Community-Engaged Scholars Grants.

Getting Started
Please review the 2022 - 23 proposal guidelines and the campus definition for outreach and engagement prior to submission. Contact the Office for Outreach and Engagement with questions.

We encourage your proposals and your ongoing efforts to make outreach and engagement work a significant part of CU Boulder’s mission.

Sincerely,
Russell Moore, Provost
