On Sept. 30, 2019 Provost Russell Moore, in announcing the departure of Bobby Braun as dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, pledged to initiate a national search for Braun’s successor. 

On Oct. 22, 2019 Moore named E. Scott Adler, dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for Graduate Affairs, as chair of the committee that will conduct the national search. He also named Keith Molenaar, who currently serves as associate dean for research in CEAS, as interim dean effective upon Braun’s departure in January 2020. 

Nominations for search committee membership were accepted until 5 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2019.

On Nov. 20, 2019 Moore announced the composition of the search committee. The provost plans to name a new dean to start in the 2020 fall semester. 

On April 1, 2020 the provost announced the granting of an extension for the CEAS dean search and a new goal of naming a new dean by the end of fall semester 2020.
