Summer Research - Early Identification Program (SR-EIP)

The University of Colorado Boulder is a proud member of the Leadership Alliance, a consortium of 32 colleges and universities that aims to prepare underrepresented students for leadership roles in academia, industry, and the public sector. The SMART program is a host site of the Leadership Alliance’s Summer Research-Early Identification Program (SR-EIP), and students may apply to SMART through the SR-EIP.

Applying to the Leadership Alliance’s SR-EIP represents an outstanding opportunity that allows students to apply to summer programs at 3 prestigious institutions at once. Students that are admitted to participate in a SR-EIP program subsequently become part of a valuable network; throughout the year, the Leadership Alliance routinely shares information about graduate school opportunities, both at its member institutions and nationally.

Students must have their applications accepted by the Leadership Alliance before they are sent to the individual host programs for review. If your application is not accepted, the SMART program will not receive your materials. You may, however, apply directly to SMART and apply to the SR-EIP.

Please note that students who apply through the SR-EIP must meet SMART program eligibility requirements. The SMART program requires that students be rising college juniors or seniors in STEM majors, and that they be at least 18 years of age.
