Breaking the Global Silence:
The week of events for Breaking the Global Silence, part of International Day Against Violence Towards Women, will begin November 27th and continue until December 5th. Come to learn about women's issues, violence against women, how to prevent it and eventually how to end misogyny and campus and sexism and violence toward all women. Events will include panel discussions, guest speaker and movie showings. All events are free. See schedule below.
Highlights: -- Keynote Speaker, Janine D'Anniballe, Ph.D: Violence Against Women - Causes Impact and How to Make it Stop: Monday November 27th 7 pm ATLAS 100. Dr. D'Anniballe, director of Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA) will be discussing how violence against women (VAW) shows up internationally and locally, why it occurs, how it affects individuals and communities and what a movement to end VAW should include. Learn how VAW is connected to other forms of oppression, raise awareness and learn how to change the system and help stop violence against women.
-- Clothesline project: Wednesday November 29th 1 - 4 pm and Thursday, November 30th 11 am - 3 pm in the UMC across from Baby Doe's.
