Research Associate Faculty Series

The appointing authority for Boulder Campus research faculty and Post-Doctoral Fellowship recipients is Dr. Terri Fiez, Vice Chancellor for Research, as delegated in Policy 2-K from the Board of Regents to the University of Colorado President, to the Boulder Campus Chancellor, to the Boulder Campus Vice Research for Research.

All research faculty, Research Professor Series, and Post-Doctoral Fellowship recipients are at-will employees who are paid on monthly/salaried appointments.  The primary responsibility of research faculty is to support and advance the research mission of the University of Colorado Boulder.

Hiring Processes for Boulder Campus Research Faculty

Boulder Campus Research Faculty hiring procedures must be completed in a proactive manner, as mandated and established in October 2004. All Boulder Campus Research Faculty must be conducted through Taleo/CU Careers (replacing JobsatCU as of 12/5/15).

Hiring units must use the deadline due dates information posted in the Chancellor’s Personnel Report Due Dates (updated 12/8/15)

  1. Determine when the position must be created and approved in HCM 9.2,
  2. Create the Taleo/CU Careers posting and submit for approval to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research,
  3. Advertise and recruit prospective employees,
  4. Review and interview candidates, and
  5. Initiate the criminal/EPLS background check Taleo/CU Careers for the recommended hire, prior to the hiring unit submitting an offer letter (in final format) to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research via DocuSign.  NOTE:  if you want the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research to complete a "pre-review" of the offer letter, prior to uploading to DocuSign for routing, please send to resfachr@colorado.edu. 
  6. Effective 1/1/16, all offer letters must be processed via DocuSign! No more paper offer letters!!

UPDATES/NEW REQUIREMENTS, effective with the 1/1/16 hiring cycle:

1.  All applicants must have completed/uploaded their application and submission of the required documents (cover letter, cv or resume, letter of recommendation, and any other documents required by the hiring unit) prior to submission of the offer letter in order for the Office of the Vice Chancellor to approve job data in order for an Employee I.D. to be created and Onboarding to occur prior to the start date.
