Name: David Ferguson

Year: CU Junior

Major: Aerospace Engineering

Note: This is the second grand championship win for David. He also won the grand championship in Spring 2006!

How long have you been playing Poker?

Since freshman year of high school, so about seven years.

What got you interested in Poker?

I’ve always been interested in card games and I played a lot as a freshman in high school during lunchtime. Plus, I especially like poker because it is a game that requires skill as well as luck.

How often do you play?

At least once a week, usually with some friends.

Have you played in a lot of tournaments since last year?

I played in a fundraiser and got 2nd place. Mainly I just play with friends and keep it more low key.

How many people were at the final tournament at the Connection this year?

It started with sixteen people; then went to a final table of eight.

How was the competition at the Connection overall compared to last year?

The competition was better this year. There were a lot more experienced players so it was based on more than just getting lucky.

What’s your favorite hand?

Definitely Ace Jack of Spades.

What was the most memorable hand from the tournament?

This guy bet a lot against me on a bluff and eventually I called him. He had a jack high and I made the right call.
