UMC Board Overview

The UMC Joint Board was established in 1970 and has since served as the governing body of the UMC and its facilities, programs and services. The UCSU Constitution provides for the framework, membership, and accountability of the Board.

The UMC Board consists of twelve (12)-voting members and a variable number of ex-officio members. Eight (8) of the twelve (12)-voting members must be currently registered CU Boulder students and the remaining four (4) non-students. Four (4) of the student members are appointed by the incumbent board, three (3) are appointed by the Board subject to UCSU Legislative Council ratification, and one (1) is appointed from the Legislative Council by the UCSU Executives. Student’s terms are for two years with the exception of the student appointed by the UCSU Executives whom shall serve for one year. The four non-student (faculty or staff) voting members are appointed by the incumbent board for a two year term. The UMC Director is a permanent ex-officio member of the Board. The Board may appoint a number of ex-officio members as deemed necessary.
