Scholarships, Fellowships, & Awards The scholarships listed below represent some of the most competitive and prestigious awards available to students. There are, of course, many other scholarships, fellowships and awards, but the Top Scholarship Office focuses its attention on these awards. For general scholarship information, please contactt the Office of Financial Aid, Scholarship Services, Schlp@colorado.edu.In deciding whether these opportunities are relevant to your career goals, consider the following information carefully:
Undergraduate Scholarships and Fellowships: Goldwater ScholarshipTruman Scholarship Udall Scholarship Graduate Scholarships and Fellowships: Churchill ScholarshipGates Scholarship Javits Scholarship Marshall Scholarship Mitchell Scholarship Rhodes Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarships/Fellowships CU may nominate up to four students for the Goldwater Scholarship competition.
Students must have outstanding potential in the fields of math, science
and engineering and intent to pursue a PhD in research in one of these
fields. The student must be a sophomore or junior standing by the time
of nomination (November), have a minimum GPA of 3.8 and have research
or project experience outside the classroom. The Foundation awards ~ 300
scholarships each year and will pay up to $7500 for eligible, unmet expenses/year.

CU may nominate up to four students for the Truman Scholarship competition.
Students may apply from all fields of study and must have a desire to
enter a career in public service. Students must be juniors standing by
the time of nomination (November), have a minimum GPA of 3.6 and have
demonstrated leadership and community service experience. The Foundation
awards ~75- 80 scholarships each year up to $30,000 for 2-3 years of graduate

CU may nominate up to six at large and/or Native American students for
the Udall Scholarship competition. Students may apply from a wide variety
of fields relating to the environment and in the case of the Native American
students from those fields related to health care or tribal public policy.
Students must have be sophomores or juniors standing by the time of nomination
(January) and have a minimum GPA of 3.6. Students must demonstrate a commitment
to and potential for making significant contributions in their fields
through their area of study and public service. The Foundation awards
~75 scholarships each year and will pay up to $5,000 for educational expenses.

Graduate Scholarships and Fellowhips CU may nominate up to two students for the Churchill Scholarship competition.
This award is tenable at Churchill College, Cambridge University, England,
for one year of study. Students may apply from selected areas in the fields
of math, science or engineering, must be between the ages of 19-26 and
have attained a bachelor’s degree by the time of the award. Students
must have an excellent academic record, a high GPA and research or project
experience outside of the classroom. Students must also take the GRE test
and demonstrate the capacity for original work, a strong character, concern
for critical problems of society and good health. The Foundation awards
~12 scholarships each year which include tuition and fees at Cambridge
plus an additional $18,000-$20,000 to cover living expenses, and up to

CU students may apply directly to the Gates Cambridge Trust Scholarship
competition. This award is tenable at Cambridge University, England, for
one to four years of study. Students may apply from all fields or study
and must have attained a bachelor’s degree by the time of the award.
Students must have an excellent academic record as demonstrated by a high
GPA, research or project experience outside of the classroom and an ability
to work independently. Students must also demonstrate the capacity for
original work, a strong character and concern for critical problems of
society, especially in the areas of health, equity, technology and learning.
The Trust awards ~40 US scholarships each year which include tuition and
fees at Cambridge plus a stipend to cover living and travel expenses.
CU students may apply directly to the Javits Scholarship competition. The Javits Scholarship funds students wishing to pursue an MFA or a PhD in selected fields of the arts, humanities, music and social sciences at any accredited US graduate degree program. Students applying to graduate schools (and graduate students at the beginning of their studies) in these fields who also have financial need are eligible to apply. Students must have an excellent academic record, a superior ability demonstrated by achievements and exceptional promise in their chosen field. The scholarship will fund qualified students for the lesser of 48 months or the completion of the degree. Students must submit GRE test scores and fill out the FAFSA form in addition to the application. The Foundation awards ~100 new scholarships each year which include an institutional payment (tuition and fees) as well as a living stipend. CU may nominate up to three students for the Marshall Scholarship competition.
This award is tenable at any university in the United Kingdom for one
to three years of study. Students may apply from all fields of study and
must have attained a bachelor’s degree by the time of the award.
Students must have an excellent academic record (3.7 GPA minimum), demonstrated
leadership and community service experience and the desire and potential
to become leaders in their chosen fields. The Foundation awards ~40 scholarships
each year which include tuition, fees and a living and travel stipend.

CU may nominate up to two students for the Rhodes Scholarship competition.
This award is tenable at Oxford University, England for two to three years
of study. Students may apply from all fields of study and must have attained
a bachelor’s degree by the time of the award. Students must have
an excellent academic record (3.7 GPA minimum), demonstrated leadership
and community service experience and the desire and potential to become
leaders in their chosen fields. Students must also demonstrate the physical
vigor necessary to carry out their proposed plan of study and to pursue
their academic and career goals. The Foundation awards 32 scholarships
each year which include tuition, fees and a living and travel stipend.
