The Light Shines On, a film highlighting the story of the people, events and values that have made CU Boulder esteemed in spirit and in work, has been nominated for a National Academy of Television and Arts Sciences Heartland Chapter Emmy Award in the historical documentary category.

The film was created, produced and co-directed by CU Boulder’s Charles Mangano. It covers everything from the early days of CU Boulder and the university’s significant role in space to  stories of some of the great people in whose footsteps the community follows. It highlights legacies and traditions, such as employing one of the first female professors in the country and running a buffalo around Folsom Field on football game days. 

The film officially premiered at the 2019 Conference on World Affairs.
